Terms of service
These are the terms between you and OpenArtifacts ("we", "us"), the operator of openartifacts.sh and openartifactsusercontent.com. They apply to everything the service offers: the API, the MCP server, the CLI, the dashboard, and the hosting of pages and services published through them. By creating an account, holding a token, publishing anything, or paying for anything, you agree to them. Two other documents are part of this agreement: the acceptable use policy, which says what we host and what we don't, and the privacy policy, which says what we do with data. Where they and these terms differ on their own subject, they win.
1. Agents and the people behind them
OpenArtifacts is built so that an AI agent can create an account and publish in two HTTP calls. When an agent does that, it does it for someone. The person or organisation on whose behalf an agent acts is the account holder, is bound by these terms through the agent's actions, and is responsible for everything done with the account's tokens, whether by a human or by any agent holding one. If you operate agents for other people, you are responsible to us for what those agents do here, and you agree to pass these terms on to the people you act for.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the service, old enough to form a binding contract where you live to hold a claimed account, and an adult to add credit. If you accept these terms for a company, you confirm you are allowed to bind it.
2. Accounts, tokens and teams
- A new account is provisional. It works immediately and expires 30 minutes after signup unless a person claims it by opening its claim link; when it expires, its pages stop serving and it is deleted. A claimed account is permanent until closed.
- Tokens are secrets. A bearer token grants everything the account can do. Keep it private, store it safely, and revoke it if it may have leaked. We cannot recover a lost token; you can mint another. Anything done with a valid token is done by the account.
- Sign-in credentials. Keep your username and password to yourself. Tell us if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
- Teams. An account can invite other humans and agents. Everyone who joins acts for the account, and the account holder answers for them. You can stop accepting new agent joins and revoke any token at any time.
- One account per person is not required, but creating accounts to evade limits, expiry or billing is platform abuse under the acceptable use policy.
3. The service
OpenArtifacts hosts static pages and sites (HTML, CSS, JavaScript and assets) and container-backed services (a bundle plus a start command that runs as a process on our platform). Each published thing gets its own host under openartifactsusercontent.com, versions, and the ability to roll back. Everything the service does is described in the API reference; the reference is accurate to what is deployed and is part of what you are agreeing to use.
We may add, change, or remove features, limits, sizes and defaults as the service evolves. Where a change removes something you rely on, we will announce it on the site with at least 30 days' notice unless the change is needed for security or legal reasons. Some capabilities may be offered as previews and may change or be withdrawn with less notice; we will say so where that applies.
4. Your content
- It is yours. You keep every right you have in what you publish. We claim none of it.
- You give us permission to host it. So that the service can work, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, cache, scan, transmit, display and serve your content, and to make the technical modifications needed to do that (for example compressing it or rewriting headers). The licence lasts while the content is on the service and for as long afterwards as we keep versions under the privacy policy. It exists to run the service and for nothing else.
- You are responsible for it. You confirm you have the rights needed to publish what you publish, that it does not break the acceptable use policy, and that it complies with the law where you are and where it is served. This includes third-party scripts and services your page loads, and what your service does with what visitors send it.
- Visitors' data is your responsibility. If your page or service collects anything from visitors, you are the one collecting it, and you must have your own privacy notice and legal basis for doing so. We are not a party to that relationship.
- Public by default. A published artifact is public unless you make it unlisted or private. Anyone with the URL of a public or unlisted artifact can open it.
5. Moderation and removal
Every published version is scanned before it serves, as the acceptable use policy describes, and content that breaks that policy may be blocked, removed, or restricted, and the account suspended or closed, at our discretion and without prior notice where the violation is clear or the risk is immediate. We may also remove content on receipt of a valid legal notice, including a copyright notice under the procedure in the acceptable use policy. Charges already metered for removed content are not refunded. We may, but are not obliged to, tell you why something was removed, and the acceptable use policy sets out how to appeal.
6. Prices and payment
- Prices are those published in the pricing section of openartifacts.sh at the time a charge is metered. That page is the price list and part of these terms.
- What is free. A provisional account gets five publishes; a claimed account gets one hundred publishes a month, twenty megabytes of storage and one million page views a month at no charge. Beyond that, publishes, private and unlisted artifacts, storage and traffic are metered at the published prices.
- Services are never free. A container-backed service needs credit to start and is metered while it runs: awake time per minute by size and active CPU, at the published rates. A service that cannot be paid for is suspended.
- Credit is prepaid. Charges are drawn from a balance on the account. Balances are kept in millionths of a dollar and shown in dollars. When the balance cannot cover a charge, the request is refused with an HTTP 402 that says how to pay; content already published keeps serving.
- Humans add credit in the dashboard through Stripe Checkout, from $5 to $500 at a time.
- Agents add credit by answering a 402 with a payment credential: a card through a Stripe Shared Payment Token, or USDC on Tempo or Base. A card payment settles at least $5 and a stablecoin payment at least $0.25; when a request is due less than that, the difference stays on the account as credit. An agent may also buy credit up front at
POST /v1/credits, from $1 to $100 at a time. - Refunds. Unused credit is refunded on request within 30 days of the purchase, to the payment method that paid for it, less the payment provider's fees. After 30 days, and for credit already spent, there is no refund except where the law requires one. Charges metered for content that we removed under the acceptable use policy are not refunded. Refunds of stablecoin payments return as stablecoins to the paying wallet.
- Disputes and chargebacks. If a payment is reversed by a card issuer, we deduct the reversed amount from the account and may suspend it until the balance is restored. Contact us before disputing a charge; we would rather fix a mistake than argue about it.
- Taxes. Prices exclude taxes. Where we are required to collect a tax, we add it at checkout.
- Price changes take effect 30 days after they appear on the pricing page, and never for credit already spent.
7. What you may not do
The acceptable use policy lists the content we do not host. In addition, you agree not to: probe, scan, or attack the service or other account holders' content or containers; attempt to break the isolation between artifacts or between containers; interfere with the operation of the service or its billing; use the service to build a competing hosting product by systematically extracting it; resell access to circumvent billing; or use the service in a way that breaks the law. We may suspend an account immediately for any of these.
8. Third-party services
Payments are processed by Stripe and, for USDC on Base, settled through Coinbase's facilitator; their terms apply to the payment itself. The service runs on Cloudflare. Client tools you use to talk to us (agent frameworks, wallets, the Link agent wallet, MPP and x402 clients) are yours to choose and are governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for a third party's service.
9. Suspension, closing and what happens after
- You can leave any time. Delete your content, revoke your tokens, and ask us to close the account. Closing an account deletes its content as the privacy policy describes.
- We may suspend or close an account for a breach of these terms or the acceptable use policy, for non-payment, for a legal requirement, or if the account has been unclaimed and has expired. Where the reason is not urgent we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.
- After closing, your content stops serving and the licence in section 4 ends when the content is deleted. Remaining credit on an account we closed for a breach is handled case by case; in cases of fraud it is forfeited. Sections that by their nature should survive (your responsibility for your content, payment obligations already incurred, disclaimers, limits of liability, and disputes) survive.
- We may discontinue the service. If we do, we will give at least 60 days' notice on the site, keep your content available for export during that time, and refund unused credit.
10. Disclaimers
The service is provided as is and as available. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that content will be preserved, or that it will meet your needs. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Published content belongs to the people who publish it; we do not endorse it and are not responsible for it. Nothing here limits rights that the law gives you and does not let you waive.
11. Limits of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from the service or these terms, however caused. Our total liability for all claims relating to the service in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period and one hundred US dollars. These limits apply to every theory of liability and even if a remedy fails its essential purpose. They do not apply to liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
12. Your responsibility to us
You will defend, indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, that arise from content you publish, from what your agents do with the account, from your breach of these terms or the acceptable use policy, or from your violation of anyone's rights or of the law. We will tell you promptly of any such claim and let you control its defence, provided that you do not settle in a way that admits fault on our behalf without our written consent.
13. Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware and the federal laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that we cannot resolve together will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and both of us consent to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in a country whose law gives you the right to sue where you live, that right is unaffected. Before either of us starts a claim, we agree to write to the other with a description of the problem and to try, for 30 days, to resolve it.
14. General
- These terms, the acceptable use policy, the privacy policy and the pricing page are the whole agreement between you and us about the service, and replace any earlier understanding.
- If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in force and the part is read as narrowly as needed to be enforceable.
- Not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it.
- You may not assign this agreement without our consent; we may assign it to a successor of the service.
- Neither of us is liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond reasonable control.
- Notices to you may be given in the dashboard, on the site, or by email if you have given us one. Notices to us go to the address below.
15. Changes
We may update these terms; the version and effective date at the top change when we do. For a material change we will show a notice in the dashboard and on openartifacts.sh at least 14 days before it takes effect, or immediately for changes required by law. Continued use after the effective date means the current version applies. If you do not agree with a change, stop using the service and close your account before it takes effect.
