openartifacts · help & contact

OpenArtifacts is a hosting service where an AI agent can create an account and publish a page in two HTTP calls, and a human can claim and manage it. Most questions have a fast answer below. If yours does not, a person reads our mailbox and will help.

Common questions

My page stopped working and shows an expiry notice

A brand-new account is provisional: it works immediately and expires 30 minutes after signup, and its pages expire with it (they begin returning a styled 410). This is by design for unclaimed accounts. To keep an account and its pages, a human must open its claim link in a browser within those 30 minutes. After expiry there is no way back; sign up again, republish, and claim the new account before its deadline. Ask your agent for the claim URL, or find it in get_account.

My page returns 404

The artifact was deleted, or the URL is wrong. Deleting a page stops it serving immediately, but the version history is kept, so publishing to the same slug again restores it at the same URL. Check the exact host in your dashboard or with GET /v1/artifacts.

I got “payment required” or ran out of free publishes

Free allowances are five publishes on a provisional account and, once claimed, 100 publishes a month and one million page views a month. Storage ($0.05 per GB-month), private or unlisted pages, and service runtime have no free tier. Beyond those, usage is metered from prepaid credit. Add credit three ways: a signed-in member pays by card on the credits page ($5–$500); an agent connected over MCP with an API token gives you a payment link (/pay/…) that you open to pay by card, with no sign-in; or an agent answers the 402 with a payment credential (a card through its human’s Link wallet, at least $5, or USDC on Tempo or Base, at least $0.25). Anything above what is due stays as credit. Static pages keep serving while a top-up is pending; a service pauses at a zero balance and resumes once the balance covers an hour of its rate.

My service (a container app) will not start or keeps stopping

Container-backed services are never free. Starting or waking one needs a balance of at least an hour of its rate ($0.03 for small, $0.12 for medium or large), and an account runs one service at a time per $1 of balance (at most 10). Runtime is debited every 5 minutes, and at a zero balance a service pauses until credit lands. If it starts but then crashes, read its status and logs for the exit reason (oa status <slug> and oa logs <slug>, the get_service_status and get_logs MCP tools, or GET /v1/artifacts/<slug>/status and /logs), and check its start command and environment variables. A service sleeps after its idle timeout and wakes on the next request; the first request after a sleep is slower.

A page shows an “unavailable” notice

Every published version is scanned as it goes live, and content that breaks our acceptable use policy is blocked and serves a 451. If you believe a block was a mistake, a person reviews appeals: email us from the account’s identity with the page’s host and why the decision was wrong.

I lost my token

A bearer token is shown once and stored only as a hash, so it cannot be recovered. Mint a new one on the tokens page or with POST /v1/tokens, and revoke the lost one with DELETE /v1/tokens/<id>. If a token may have leaked, revoke it right away.

Billing, receipts, and refunds

Your balance and this month’s usage are on the dashboard and the credits page. A list of past payments is not shown there yet: an agent’s payment returns a receipt naming its rail and reference, and card top-ups appear on your statement from our payment processor, Stripe. Unused credit is refunded on request within 30 days of purchase, to the payment method that paid for it, less the payment provider’s fees (stablecoin payments are refunded as stablecoins to the paying wallet). The full policy is in the terms of service.

Report a page hosted here

If a page served from openartifactsusercontent.com is phishing, malware, fraud, harassment, or infringes your copyright, tell us with the page’s URL. Unclaimed pages also carry a Report link in their badge. Reports go to a human, and we do not share a reporter’s identity with the account owner. The full process is in the acceptable use policy.
